Altrad Hire & Sales - Peterborough

Altrad Hire & Sales was formed from the merger of Altrad Generation and Trad UK. The Peterborough branch is managed by Karl Maskell and is located in the Eastern Industry area of the city, serving the East of England region. It has access to the A1M corridor and Peterborough's road network. Altrad Generation Hire & Sales supplies scaffolding, fencing, groundworks, edge protection, safety, and light access products. The company has a national network spanning the UK and Ireland. Its journey began in 1978 as Generation Building Equipment LTD, part of the McAlpine Construction Empire.

It evolved into Mitie Generation LTD with six branches in Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Southampton, and Northampton. A dedicated training centre was opened in Wakefield. The Mitie Access Division was backed by a £120 million investment. In 2004 the company rebranded as Generation Hire & Sales. In 2012 it became part of the Altrad Group and Altrad Generation Hire & Sales was established. In 2013 it launched its exports division. In 2015 it acquired DESSA LTD, allowing it to supply the Uni-Roof Temporary Roof System. The company achieved £80 million in turnover.

A visit to the yard, whether to collect an order or to have materials delivered, is what customers most often comment on at this Peterborough scaffolding and building supplies branch. Several reviewers describe staff who are consistently friendly and willing to assist, from securing planks onto a trailer to taping items safely in place. The yard team’s upbeat manner is mentioned frequently, including during periods when trading conditions were difficult. Named team members Karl and Chris are singled out by reviewers for going out of their way to help, and one account refers to the service received as ten out of ten.

A recurring point is that orders called through in advance were ready for collection, while larger loads were banded onto suitable pallets, indicating a well-organised operation. Reviewers also repeatedly mention competitive pricing and dependable delivery. Among the products cited are scaffolding planks of roughly thirteen feet, collected directly from the yard, alongside the construction equipment and fencing supplies the business stocks. The prevailing theme is approachable, knowledgeable staff who make the process straightforward.
