Burflex (Scaffolding) Ltd

Burflex (Scaffolding) Ltd was established in 1990 as a family-owned scaffolding company. The company directly employs over 180 scaffolders and owns scaffolding assets valued at over £18 million. It is a member of the National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) and holds ISO 9001:2015 accreditation. Burflex is one of the few companies fully trained in Layher Scaffolding. The company has head offices in Hull and contact offices in Sheffield and Leeds.

Projects in Hull involving scaffolding service work feature in accounts from customers of Burflex (Scaffolding) Ltd, and the feedback that recurs is divided. A point that comes up often is difficulty obtaining a response: one applicant reports that repeated emails over more than a month went unanswered and no quote followed. Another account describes scaffolding being dismantled and placed in a garden without permission while neighbouring work was underway, which caused understandable frustration.

Reviewers repeatedly mention concerns about the condition of vehicles and about how staff are treated, with named individuals in management and transport singled out. On the positive side, a customer describes the company as experienced, reliable and honest, and speaks highly of the quality of its products. The recurring complaints centre on communication and on how problems were handled once they arose, while the praise focuses on the standard of equipment supplied and the reliability shown on that occasion. The result is a contractor whose front-line work is valued by some but whose responsiveness and on-site conduct have disappointed others.
