Altrad Generation - Cardiff

Altrad Generation Hire & Sales supplies scaffolding, fencing, groundworks, edge protection, safety and light access products for domestic, commercial and industrial uses. The company began in 1978 as Generation Building Equipment LTD, later becoming Mitie Generation LTD, rebranding as Generation Hire & Sales in 2004, and becoming part of the Altrad Group in 2012 when Altrad Generation Hire & Sales was established.

An exports division launched in 2013, and the acquisition of DESSA LTD in 2015 enabled supply of the Uni-Roof Temporary Roof System. The company operates a national network spanning the UK and Ireland. Mark Ames is Branch Manager of the Cardiff branch, which is one of Generation's largest, serves South, Mid and West Wales, and is based in the Tremorfa Industrial Estate near Cardiff Docks.

Scaffolding equipment for purchase and rental is the main activity at this Cardiff depot, and the feedback points to a trade counter and yard that people have used for years rather than once. The team, both in the office and out on the yard, is repeatedly described as friendly, polite and efficient, with the women handling paperwork and the men loading vehicles earning particular mentions for their helpful manner. An aspect raised across a number of reviews is how swiftly lorries are tipped and turned around, and customers note that the items they arrived for were ready and supplied without complications.

Hire charges are described as fair and reasonable, while the large yard is valued for the space it gives to manoeuvre larger vehicles. Reviewers also write about receiving exactly what they asked for and being dealt with promptly whenever they visit. The combination of stocked equipment, quick loading and courteous service is what several accounts associate with the branch, and the atmosphere on site is credited to the staff who work there. Regular trade customers return for scaffolding materials and access gear, and the yard's efficient handling of collections and deliveries stands out.
