Total Hire and Sales

Total Hire and Sales, which was originally founded as City Plant Hire Ltd in 1968, operates from multiple depots across the Midlands. It is a preferred supplier for many major building and construction businesses. The company offers tool hire, plant hire, powered access, site accommodation, and lifting & handling.

Total Hire and Sales has earned praise in Derby for a friendly, can-do approach that customers associate with speed and fair value. Reviewers repeatedly mention the helpfulness of staff, describing the team as hard working and willing to take time with those who are less experienced, explaining available options clearly and without pressure. Telehandler hire is singled out as an example of how quickly requests are dealt with, one customer noting that the equipment was sorted without delay. Reliability comes through strongly, with a long-standing client stating that the business has never let them down across repeated hires.

The rates are described as fair and competitive, a factor that encourages return visits. Customers also value the breadth of equipment on offer, with one finding every item required for a home groundwork project. Patience with novices and clear guidance on tool selection are mentioned as reasons for coming back to complete a job. The firm supports both trade and domestic users, and the consistent theme is of a dependable, approachable hire service where practical help and good pricing go hand in hand.
